Can't wait for your "consumerism" podcast episode. I did a serious deep dive the last six months. Theres a four part documentary called Century of the Self, maybe you've seen it, highly recommend.
Ooooh thanks for the rec, I haven’t seen it, but I will check it out. There’s nothing like Florida with its outlet malls, estate sales, and now cleaning out my own closet to tip off some deep contemplation about American consumerism.
This is so helpful! Reddit mistakenly thinks I'm an airbnb host and I get drawn in and end up scrolling the Airbnb host sub from time to time, and 90% of the complaints are about Airbnb itself and particularly the customer service. I've passively learned so much about how badly they treat hosts, all of whom seem desperate to make their guests happy. Airbnb is awful but I'm glad you've learned (and taught) how to game it!
Hi, so nice to hear from you! And I’m in Winter Haven right now, this is a good reminder to stop by Andy’s. I hope life in Phoenix has been treating everyone well.
Have never tried airbnb but have experienced other horrors in the past going through earlier versions of the service (for one, an excruciating fold-out bed with a horizontal bar in the middle.) Your tips are helpful if I ever do brave it. As for consumerism, you continue to inspire me. We have an upcoming community yard sale here; I'd love to unload some of the stuff we have (you'll recall the profusion of dust-catching objects), but mere suggestion of it sparks blow-back from the "spousal unit." Boo hoo....one of these days....Happy travels to you and Michiel.
Such great advice about AirBnB, and it echoes our experiences with them across the US all the way to the Alps. Such an underwhelming brand TBH. Loving the podcast, too! And i want everything on the ice cream menu, LOL.

Exactly!!!!!! The guests and the hosts are wonderful people! It’s Airbnb that mucks things up. I bet that thread would be fascinating for me to read.
Great read! Howdy from Phx (Carly and Phil). Love these Andy’s Igloo photo (been there with Carly)…
